What is my story?
What is our story?
Entwined with God. Shane and I– and our family. Where are we going? What are we doing? You have our story written. It’s all laid out before us, but we cannot see the map. In many ways we are walking blind, in darkness, and yet there is light. Light radiating from you to the depths. We can trust that you will not lead us to the depths without cause. That you have a purpose and a plan and that we can trust you to lead. Even when it’s difficult and the climb is strenuous. When it’s beyond what we think we can handle. But you know we can handle more than we think we can. Your purpose? Your ways? They’re not my way. They’re not our way. But you’re way is better, even when the world falters under my feet and rejection is near.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 ESV
At times our lives are in turmoil and yes, even in this place, in the midst of the winds and waves, we can have peace. We may be ready to pound our fists and scream and cry and have no knowledge of what our future holds, and even then, in the midst of the chaos, yes, even then, we can have peace. Deep down in the depths of our soul we can have peace because the Comforter lives within us. Jesus said so. He sent the Holy Spirit to comfort us when the ground wavers beneath our feet and we wait for the crater to consume us. Even in all of this, He sings over us, “It is well with our soul.”
Our job is to walk together arm in arm as one.
Eyes on Jesus. Eyes on the gift he gives. Even when those gifts don’t seem like gifts, but rather seem like curses. Even then we focus our eyes on The Christ who is and was and is too come. The man that was fully man and fully God and was crucified, buried 3 days, risen, ascended into Heaven, and is now seated in His rightful place beside God the Father.
We must keep our eyes on Christ our Savior and Redeemer. We will learn and grow and one day we will understand. All will be made clear. When? I don’t know, in a year? In five years? In eternity? But this I know, the blessings will be worth all the hardships of this life to hear the words “Well done good and faithful servant.”
His Grace is Sufficient,
